At least three persons died and more than 40 others were injured in a bus accident in Okhaldhunga on Friday.
The accident occurred when the bus (BA 2 Kha 7063) carrying pilgrims to Halesi of Khotang from Kathmandu met with an accident at Thakle-8, Suklatar of Okhaldhunga today afternoon. The bus had skidded off the road and fell some 300 meters down.
Two of the deceased have been identified as Bishnu Bahadur Shrestha, 63, and Sabitri Maya Shrestha, both from Ratamate, Sindhuli, District Police Office, Okhaldhunga said. The identity of another deceased is yet to be known. All three had died on the spot.
Police said at least 40 passengers were rescued from the site of the accident and are being transported to Kathmandu for medical treatment.
