The Mechi-Mahakali national awareness campaign launched by the UCPN (Maoist) from Kakadvitta in Jhapa a week ago has reached Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur.
Addressing the campaign here on Tuesday, UCPN (M) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said although some forces tried to disrupt the drive by planting bombs and felling trees on roads, it was a ‘roaring success’.
He said there is no doubt about the success of the Constituent Assembly election and urged people to vote for a change by giving his party a two-thirds majority.
He accused the CPN-UML of trying to disrupt his party’s publicity campaigns with the help of the CPN-M. It is unfortunate that the party is trying to disrupt the polls, he said.
Meanwhile, a bomb disposal team of the Nepal Army defused a bomb planted at Krishnapur VDC in Kanchanpur, where Dahal was scheduled to address an election campaign organised by the UCPN (M).
