Mercury level drops with rainfall

 Cold weather has increased due to rains in districts in the east including Jhapa after a long time, but farmers have felt a relief, as it has benefited wheat crops, vegetable and tea farming.

The sky is overcast today and rains continued in the morning in Jhapa.

In Sankhuwasabha, heavy snowfall was witnessed in northern areas. Tourists are happy with the snowfall but the children and elderly have been facing difficulties due to cold weather.

The snowfall has been witnessed in northern areas like Jaljala, Makalu, Panwakhola, Hatiya, and Kimathanka and eastern areas including Chauki, Mangalbare and Gufapokhari. This time the snow was late in the areas.

In Bardibas, farmers of Mahottari district are happy with the rains with thunders.  They said it will benefit their wheat, pulse and oilseed crops.  It will also benefit sugarcane and fruits, said a farmer Haridev Saha of Bhangaha-3. This rain is like nectar for us, he said.

After long cold waves two times this winter, this rain has also brought sunshine, said Hirendra Mahara Chamar of Singyahi-4.

In Solukhumbu, farmers of Solu are also elated with the rains last night. It will also benefit their wheat and barley crops. Our wheat and barley plants will now survive from drying up, said Pashi Sherpa of Beni. It has also benefited potato farming, said Lhakpa Sherpa of Taksindu. RSS
