A unique dispute of claiming a baby boy by two mothers has been resolved with the DNA test of his biological mother.
In the presence of Chief District Officer (CDO) Hari Prasad Upadhyay, the baby boy was handed over to Renu Devi Mahato, a resident of Laxminiya-8 in Mahottari district, as per the DNA report of the National Forensic Science Laboratory. CDO Upadhyay opened the sealed envelope sent by the laboratory in front of the both claimants.
“I’m very happy, we will perform the naming ceremony once we reach home,” said elated mother after receiving the baby. A baby boy delivered at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital turned out to be the bone of contention between two mothers—Mahato and Sangita Devi Sah—who delivered an infant each on January 12. While the male infant became a show-stopper, a baby girl delivered by one of the mothers had been left in the lurch.
